When you need medical care, don't waste time wondering if you should go to your regular doctor, urgent care, or the emergency room. Our team at iCare ER & Urgent Care is trained in providing emergency care for a variety of conditions. With state-of-the-art technology and a team of qualified and experienced medical professionals, iCare has all of the necessary tools to help you when you need immediate care. Whether you are experiencing a seizure, stroke, abscess, migraine, bleeding, heat stroke, infection, or accidental poisoning, our team will work with you to determine whether you should be treated in the urgent care or in the ER of our North Frisco or South Fort Worth, TX facility. This determination will be promptly decided and based on your symptoms, how severe the illness or injury has progressed, and if it is a life-threatening situation.
At iCare ER & Urgent Care, all of our physicians are board certified in emergency medicine and are credentialed to work in hospital-based emergency departments throughout Texas. iCare provides emergency care services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Unlike many hospital-based emergency rooms in the Dallas-Forth Worth metroplex, we pride ourselves in having comfortable waiting rooms for your family and relatives, large private rooms for children and adults, short wait times, and friendly staff. We provide timely and exceptional medical care for any medical situation.
Common Conditions or Symptoms
Symptoms of seizures include convulsions, rhythmic jerking, loss of responsiveness while eyes are open, incontinence, abnormal limb movements, abnormal stiffening, barely noticeable breathing during seizure and deep breathing directly after seizure, and combativeness while transitioning back to consciousness.
Symptoms of strokes often include a sudden and severe headache, numbness or weakness in the face, leg, or arm on one or both sides, full or partial paralysis of the face, leg, or arm on one or both sides, blurred or diminished vision in one or both eyes, trouble swallowing, difficulty speaking or understanding speech, and general confusion.
Abscesses are pus pockets at a site of tissue infection and can include inflammation and/or impaction. Here are some examples of abscesses, or pus pockets, at the site of tissue infection:
- When an abscess is located in or around the throat, inflammation and swelling can cause difficulty with swallowing or constrict breathing
- An abscessed tooth will present as a painful infection within the gum and will limit biting and chewing
- An abscessed wound or sore requiring medical attention will be hot to the touch, tender, and swollen
- Recurrent abscesses can also be a symptom of diabetes, Crohn’s disease, or a suppressed immune system
Severe Headaches & Migraines
Migraines (painful, throbbing headaches) can last for hours or days with symptoms that include sensitivities to light/smell/sound, blurred vision, nausea/vomiting, weakness, and more.
Whether it seems mild or severe, the loss of blood from wounds, bites, cuts, and lacerations can necessitate a visit to iCare. If you are pregnant and experience spotting or bleeding, get help as soon as possible.
Symptoms of heat stroke includes increased body temperature, often as high as 104º F, agitation, disorientation, confusion, slurred speech, headache, nausea, dizziness, flushed/red skin, increased heart rate, rapid breathing, lack of sweat, and in extreme cases, seizures or coma.
If you have a wound that is infected, it may have symptoms such as warmth on or around the infected area, swelling or tenderness, red streaks spreading away from the wound, pus or drainage, a foul or pungent odor, inflamed lymph nodes, fever, or chills.
If you or a child has been exposed to poison, either through swallowing or through skin contact, symptoms may include redness or a burn around the mouth, vomiting, seizures, drowsiness or unconsciousness, confusion, agitation, and difficulty breathing.
Emergency Care Reviews
"I came in for a cut on top of my head after urgent care had closed, but emergency care was still open. 24/7. The staff was very friendly. After some paperwork, they brought me in and took some vitals. After speaking to the nurse, she told me the doctor would be in. I didn't have to wait very long. After looking at the cut, the doctor determined it did not need stitches but asked if I had a recent tetanus shot. I couldn't remember and agreed to get a new one. The nurse came back, gave the shot and had to wait 15mins after the shot just to make sure there no immediate reaction. The nurse was very good at keeping me informed. In and out in just an hour. Very happy with the facility and staff."- T.M. / Google / Sep 12, 2017
"ICare is the best urgent care and emergency care. We have been there twice for my son and each time we received great service and care.there was very little wait time. The doctor saw us almost immediately after vitals and Symptoms were gathered. Its urgent care and emergency care too. The first time we visited it was considered urgent care. Our second visit was emergency care due to the IV and lab work my son needed. They were able to do the lab work there and had the results for us in 20minutes. All the staff was great."- J.H. / Google / Jul 12, 2017
"Always very friendly staff, very clean facilities, and each time I've been here we've received quick service, both for urgent care and emergency care! It was also convenient around the corner from us when my husband when into anaphylactic shock, they got him hooked up and treated within minutes!"- L.N. / Google / Feb 12, 2017
"I have to give a huge shout out to I-Care-ER at Teel and Eldorado. (they just opened - locally and physician owned) They have the capabilities of an ER Hsopital - but more affordable. I was looking for a place that could help me with my insurance and Dr. Cole went above and beyond to help me. He sent me a personal text. That is huge customer service. They will be my forever emergency care place. Customer service - at least good customer service is soooo hard to find!!!"- L.C. / Yelp / Mar 02, 2016
"Took my wife in for respiratory issues and everyone was great-from receptionist to nurses, x-ray tech and the doctor. We got right in and they took great care of my wife. If we ever need urgent or emergency care we'll definitely come back!"- D.M. / Google / Dec 11, 2017
Seeking Medical Care
We are very aware of the high medical costs that patients accrue when utilizing medical services. Our goal with iCare has been to treat both urgent and emergency care appropriately. Although under one facility, our emergency room and urgent care are two separate entities. Upon your arrival to iCare, our triage nurse will note your symptoms, chief complaint, vital signs, and overall condition. Based on our triage protocol, you will be sent to our urgent care or emergency room.
During our urgent care business hours, we will happily see you for minor problems. Your urgent care visit will be coded according to your specific urgent care visit and sent electronically to your insurance carrier. If your condition requires our emergency room, we will tell you ahead of time prior to the initiation of treatment. We will discuss with you our concerns, method of treatment, and possible costs as we want to have greater transparency in our billing while making the entire process less burdensome.
What to Expect
You can expect the best of both worlds at iCare, as we combine urgent care and emergency medical service in one location. Depending on the severity of your condition, our doctors will perform a physical exam and run necessary tests, such as a CT scan or blood tests. For your convenience, we have an onsite a laboratory and imaging suite where our staff can have your diagnostic tests and digital images available within minutes. We want you to have your results quickly, especially when your iCare physician needs to make a treatment decision that could save your life.
We treat patients of all ages. You can be confident in your decision to bring your child to our emergency room. A majority of our emergency room doctors are residency trained to treat pediatric accidents and critical situations. Your child and children will be provided personalized service in a facility designed to meet their needs in the event of an emergency or illness. We understand that coming to the emergency room may be a scary and unusual time for you and your child. iCare ER & Urgent Care was intended to be calmer, less hectic, and a more child-friendly atmosphere compared to hospital-based emergency rooms.
