Emphysema, a chronic type of COPD, is also usually caused by smoking and causes symptoms such as frequent coughing, trouble breathing, and wheezing.
Bronchitis is an infection caused by a virus or by continually inhaling toxins voluntarily or involuntarily (like second hand smoke). This illness produces symptoms such as a deep cough, fever, fatigue, excess mucus, hoarseness, whistling noises when breathing, and congestion in the chest and lungs.
Pneumonia, a serious infection caused by bacteria, fungi, or viruses, can lead to fever, chills, body aches, enlarged lymph nodes, a sore throat, a cough with excess mucus, shortness of breath, and fatigue. Some patients with pneumonia can require an admission into the hospital.
"Everyone was nice and pleasant and there was no one in the lobby waiting. The only thing that I would have to say that was a little concerning is that the physician didn't examine me, but listened to my lungs and just told me I needed antibiotics. I'm hoping I got the right diagnosis and I wasn't just given antibiotics to be given them.I'm a nurse practitioner and was trying to do the right thing by going to the doctor versus treating myself. Just wish he was a little more thorough and objective.Hoping I get better!"- A.S. / Google / Dec 12, 2016
