About the Technology
An electrocardiogram test is used to detect heart arrhythmias and cardiac abnormalities. Through electrical sensors placed on the chest, the heart’s electrical signals are recorded in graphs or wave lines, effectively taking a 3-second snapshot of your cardiac activity to interpret. ECGs can be used while you are resting in the urgent care or emergency room bed, or while you are exercising (also known as a stress test), to detect different types of cardiac abnormalities.
Cardiac Monitoring Technique
For patients with chest pain or heart issues, cardiac monitoring is an integral part of testing at iCare. From routine screening to emergency treatment, our team of doctors takes care to monitor the heart in every step of the process. During routine screening for illnesses or heart issues in the urgent care, cardiac monitoring can detect diseases and abnormalities. Further tests and treatments may be ordered. If you come into iCare presenting chest pain or other heart attack symptoms, our board-certified physicians will use cardiac monitoring in the emergency room in order to check vital signs and diagnose conditions as quickly as possible.
What to Expect
Some medical situations may require extended care, such as a hospital stay or surgery. If you come into the iCare ER with a condition that needs further care, we have agreements set up with local facilities to transfer you quickly to the hospital or facility that fits your needs. Through these agreements, we are able to make sure that you skip the hospital waiting room and be transferred right to an inpatient hospital bed. Our staff is knowledgeable about all of the local facilities and will be able to provide advice and recommendations for you if you need help choosing a facility. If you need the assistance of a specialist, such as a cardiologist or a surgeon, our staff will make the appropriate referrals to get you the care you need and transition you to a specialist that can help.
